The annual prose to gravity
Ritual offering
Every year compose lines
In honor of gravitation
A hymn to gravitation
Enjoining it to remain
Remain and keep us down
Keep us from flyin' away!

Keep space dimpled & curved
Keep spaced dipped & thick
Keep matter dense & hard
Keep us dimpled into space
Cimpled & cured
Dimpled & dured
Durable space, durable hard
Dense & massive, maSsive space

Squirrels on the powerlines
Squirrels on the power wires
Every now and then one falls
Mostly surefooted, but now and then they fall
Never seen it, hope I don't
Maybe they never fall! But
I've seen them flat on the street
Either they fell or were
Challenging cars like cats do
Close like cats do
Daredevil cats daring cars
Darting under the front wheels of cars

A hymn to the powerlines
Oh, electricity
Stay humming
And lines keep up squirrels
And drip in the rain
And provide staves for birds
For unearthly symphonies
For strange spontaneous symphonies
Composed against the sky
All in bird chatter
All in bird song
Birds composing bird song
By their arrangement on the powerlines
