Goosesmith
In the sweet-smelling feathery smithy
Jenny and Johnny Goosesmith
Those silly little children
Silly little salad children
They sold the silly salad children
To some traveling witches
Who, like eskimos, will use every part
In rituals or daily living

Sweet-smelling gosling factory
Lines of eggs careen round chutes
Little narrow supple eggchutes
Heading for the spongy layers
Heading for the loamy layers

It was determined there were not enough geese
In the skies above North America
And so the automated goose factories went online
Walking to their locations and growing their superstructures
Incubating cargoes of seed DNA and sending out probes
to collect more for splicing
These factories began churning out geese by the thousands.
And other animals as well. Indeed, all the other vanished animals.
There were only automated DNA factories working in those days.
There were many animals, but not a single human.
Earth had had enough of those!
